In April 2012, I visited Dubai and stayed there for a month. Everyone asked me how was it? and my friends living there in UAE were telling me that they are sure that I am in no mood of going back to Pakistan. For the second question, the answer is YES! My heart was stopping me from going back. Then I asked myself that why would I leave my country? The only answer to that would be “omG 16 hours of power outage!” Yes! The load shedding.

For those who asked me how was my trip and what did I learn? The only feeling that I got while staying in Dubai was, It’s just a huge shopping center. You earn from around the world, come to Dubai and spend it!. It was as easy as ABC to find any branded stuff (Oh yea, the Filipinos there, they love branded things), fast food, cars, beauty, building, beach, clubs, discos, hotels, you name it, they have it (except casinos).

The world’s biggest fountain show and the world’s biggest shopping mall - The Dubai Mall, lies around the feet of the world’s tallest building – Burj Khalifa. My first expression when I saw Burj Khalifa was “Holy Sh*t”. Yes, I saw the gigantic Burj Khalifa kissing the sky in the night, the warning flickering lights attracting me towards it and I felt like a zombie crawling towards the tower. The feeling was out of this world.

Life in Dubai – I felt nothing unusual, I hardly had to talk in English with anyone, because every other person is a desi either from Pakistan or India. And the Filipinos! They were there in huge numbers. I told one of my friend back in Pakistan that I felt like I was in Philippines rather than Dubai

The best thing I liked about Dubai? I found all the same people around there but living a proper life style and following every rule & regulation. When these same people come back to Pakistan, the first thing they do is, BREAK THE LAW. Why? I was very much disappointed on this before and finally realized that the strict rules and regulations actually tamed these Desi fellows. The second thing I liked about Dubai was their transport system. Metro, Bus and Taxi all were owned by the government and they all were in proper shape even after 3 years. If you wish to go anywhere in Dubai, traveling was not an issue and was hassle-free.

Ok fellows, check out my facebook album of Dubai Clicks and also check out the video below. I hope you will love the video I made while taking off from Dubai and back to Pakistan.

And Yes! I know there’s a lot more to share and this single post can’t tell the whole story. LOL! Are you all waiting for the Desert Safari belly dance video too? You will get it stay tuned!

I know I’m writing after a long time, but I guess I am coming back with a good event that happened a couple of days ago. Pakistan is a country consisting of wide number of cultures and societies within it. There are many places in this region with are yet to be explored and let the world know about them. May be because I’m a Pakistani so my positive attitude is towards my motherland and this is not a bad thing. Everyone is proud of their own country, and so am I.

Social Media activists from Lahore decided to start a new concept of exploring Pakistan and managed the first ever Social Media Trip. The purpose of this trip was to gather all the people who are on social media and take them out for a trip to a place where they can take pictures and let the world know that how beautiful and rich their country is. This first ever trip was arranged from Lahore to Khewra Salt Mines. Khewra salt range is located in the north of Punjab province. Through Motorway it’s almost a 3 and half hours drive to Khewra salt range from Lahore, and would be around2 and half hours from Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Khewra salt mines were discovered in 320BC and are the second largest salt mines in the world. Visitors have to walk around 1mile inside the mine, or can take a small train for those who cant walk, to reach the center from where the tourist spot is set up.

This happened many times with me, and today again when its 1st Muharram-ul-Haram and I shared a video song on my facebook fan page. The very first comment that I received was something like “Sharam karain, it’s Muharram“. Same thing happens if you do something in month of Ramadan and get certain comments like “Ramadan ka hee khayal kar leen“.

Let me keep the questions very simple, “Are we all confused Muslim or what?” Our Islam only comes in the holy months? What about the other whole year? What is a Kafir, Kufr and Mushrik? What do we call the one who appears something else and is actually something else by heart? So now answer me again, does our Islam only comes in particular months and dates? Why do we have to make crimes the whole year and only on the specific dates we do Allah Allah? I can’t answer these simple yet hard question, but at least I be naturally the same as I am the whole year. Don’t consider it that I don’t respect certain months or dates, I do, but I don’t ACT to be something different and try to trick my Allah.

I leave this debate open and heartily accept comments from everyone to help me get on the right path (if I am wrong) and may Allah help me understand what the right path is.

Everyone in Pakistan is talking about this today. A couple of days back almost 90% (if I am not wrong, because every other person I asked was doomed) of the Google adsense accounts of Pakistani webmasters and publishers were disabled by Google. The only reason they gave was that we were not following the privacy policy and we violated it. I wonder, if every one was violating it? Today came the second wave and the remaining accounts which were saying “Thanks God” are blocked too. Again, the reason is only that we violated their policy. Which policy? NO IDEA!

My blogger friends and web masters are now ringing me up, mailing me, messaging me to tell them about some way to get it back or some alternative to Adsense. Well, there are many alternatives but yes I agree not as powerful as as Google Adsense but still we can make out. Hammad Dar a blogger from Pakistan wrote a very good post about alternatives to adsense, so I wont discuss the same things here again. We read a lot about it over Internet, some people talked about Navneet Panda who is the person behind the Google Panda algorithm. Some think, may be its Navneet who did this to Pakistani web masters, because he is an Indian. But I don’t think it is the reason. While writing this post, an other blogger and friend of mine Mansoor Ahmed told me that Google Panda 2.5 is released today. What just comes to my mind now is that it is all because of it. The new algorithm is searching for content on the websites which are genuine and not copy/pasted plus the quality of the post. One more thing that comes to the blogger’s mind is that may be Google is just trying to show its power and giving a reply back to Rehman Malik on his statement that Pakistan could ban Gmail and YouTube. Another story that I heard is, may be because of the current war on terror, America may have asked Google to stop all the dollars flow inside Pakistan. Oh, and there is one more thing which may be offended Google. These days I have seen a lot of advertisements around Internet and newspaper in Pakistan about getting Google Adsense approved accounts. People were selling approved accounts or were charging Rs.2000 to Rs.5000 to get others accounts approved, and also telling them the ways to get multiple accounts.

Well, God knows for now what is the reason behind all this. We were not notified about any clause of privacy policy which was violated. I guess, may be their new policy is “If you are from Pakistan, you are not allowed to be the part of Adsense”. Oh, and don’t forget that all the advertisers on Google Adwords from Pakistan will run away too, because when there will be no place to view them, why would advertisers pay for it?

*UPDATE*

Thanks to Saad Hamid for pointing me out one thing. My article appeared as if I am accusing Google with all these allegations that I mentioned in the paragraph above.
Back in 1998 I had a vision and was foreseeing “technology” in future. I had no idea how things will evolve eventually but I was pretty much sure that this is what the world is soon going towards intentionally or unintentionally. Today when I look back at those ages I see nothing, technology wise. I guess calculator was the only coolest thing which was the best (just kidding).

The first thing that I remember which got the biggest hype was “Pentium” processor. Everyone in Pakistan was so excited about it that they used to proudly tell others that “I own a Pentium computer” whereas your friend had “486 DX4″. Later on when “Pentium Pro-MMX” (200MHz) was launched things changed again with the introduction of high quality Multimedia playing ability on computers. A laptop was not a common thing at that time. Till 2002-3, owning a laptop was a status symbol just like today if you own an iPhone.

In mobile technologies Nokia 3310 was the handset which became the best-selling mobile phone and I remember too, buying it was my dream once. I was so fantasized by its appearance and features that I literally used to dream of owning it. Coming back to the future, my dreams still are following me but this time the handset has changed now it’s may be Samsung Galaxy SII or after couple of months would be iPhone 5.

From bigger things we are going towards small and thinner things. Few months back I saw a cartoon sketch on Internet which was very much true. It said, in 1999 people were thin and TVs were big and now people are big & fat and TVs have gone very slim. So what is it? Are we ruining our own lives by introducing technology in it? In 2007 I guess it was “Bee Movie” which showed the same thing that people have gone too fat and just sit on their chairs all day long living in a virtual world that they had no idea what is around them. I am afraid we are leading our lives towards this virtual world. Whenever a group of friends are sitting together, hanging out; there is a long gap in conversation and everyone just put their heads down and tap-tap-tap on their mobile phones. After 10 minutes one of them just say “So what’s up guys?” and still looking at the mobile phone screens someone from one corner reply “nothing much” and then again a 10 minutes silence.

My country Pakistan was hit by the worst flood ever on the plant Earth last year leaving thousands dead, millions homeless, no food, shelter, no medication and money. The two worst problems which humans face after such natural disasters are the food and medication. The left over effects of flood creates new diseases and the ones who didn’t die, starts suffering from one or more diseases. On of the major disease which can spread is Malaria. The flood water does not drain away quickly and at some parts create a pond of dirty water giving birth to million mosquitoes per night. From an egg to a flyable mosquito it takes 10 to 14 days, which means within half month after the flood the effect could have taken place. (click read more to see more pictures)

“Allah the most beneficent and merciful”

Allah has created a strange eco-system on Earth of these living things. In the areas of Sindh where the flood took away the homes of everyone and left people with no shelter a strange phenomenon was witnessed (See more pictures below). Spiders from all around trying to save their lives climbed up onto the nearby trees and cocooned them with their webs. It looks extremely haunting but on the other side, it created a very amazing effect in the surrounding. The mosquitoes were gone! Yes, the webs around every corner in area on the trees reduced the number of mosquitoes which were expected to be in large number.

“Menu Note Wakha .. Mera Mood Banay” (Show me bucks, make my mood) is the policy which our so called national television is following. It’s all the game about money, they don’t care who you are, how you are, what you are. All they care about is their viewership by showing things which fantasize and gains attention. Pakistan? Do they really care about? NO WAY! Cultre Cultre Cultre, we all talk about. Is this the actual culture we are showing on our TV channels in the dramas and shows? I swear I loved the time of PTV channel, when there was pure entertainment and the real Pakistan was shown to the world.

Geo, Hum TV, TV One, ARY, and few others believe it or not they don’t care about your identity as a Pakistani nation. As mentioned above, all they care about is money. Indira Gandhi said in her speech years ago that they won the war against Pakistan (through media). Yes! here we go now! Geo TV which started claiming itself as a national television network of Pakistan (remember, no one declared it, they started calling it on their own) is showing Indian shows. F My Life! I wish I could throw out the people who are selling the identity of Pakistan.

This above video is from Sahir Lodhi’s show on GEO TV. What is this? Come on! Is this what Pakistan is? Oh yes there will be some people (so called 5% elite class population of Pakistan) here who would say that yes this is happening in Pakistan so don’t close your eyes and don’t hide the reality. I have one question for them, who let it all come in our society? A disco dancer girl is going to become a mother in next few years, so imagine the bad becoming worst when her daughter is going to take off her clothes calling it all “modernization”! And, please the ones residing outside Pakistan for decades, don’t comment on my article because you don’t know shit about Pakistan. You only watch what is being showed on the TV and your analysis is limited to that.

I have not forgotten the Two Nation Theory on which Pakistan is based on. If you have forgotten, let me recall it and remind you what it was:

The Two-Nation Theory ( Urdu: دو قومی نظریہ, Hindi: दो क़ौमी नज़रिया do qaumi nazariya) is the ideology that the primary identity of Muslims in the Indian subcontinent is their religion, rather than their language or ethnicity, and therefore Indian Hindus and Muslims are two distinct nationalities, regardless of ethnic or other commonalities. (Source: Wikipedia)

What I learned in my school life in Pakistan studies was : Two Nation Theory is the ideology of Pakistan which states that Indian Hindus and Muslims are two different nations. Their culture, religion, history, faith, way of living, hence everything is different from each other.

Give
Me
Back
My
Pakistan

So, I would like to ask my countrymen, where is this difference? We have even forgotten our culture. It’s been over 60 years now and we still have not figured out what is our culture. Who is to be blamed for this? I will not point out anyone else for this and would rather start from my own self. I am ashamed of my own self that I have done nothing for my country, my mother-land.

If this two nation theory was a lie, believe me the world’s biggest migration in history of man kind would not have happened on this plant Earth, when Muslims migrated from India to Pakistan. Over 14.5 millions people crossed the border at the time of partition.

Kamran Akmal today in the match against New Zealand of Cricket World cup 2011 dropped two catches in a single over of Shoaib Akhtar which annoyed the Tweeple from #Pakistan so much that with all what they could utter, brought ‘Kamran Akmal‘ in the worldwide trendy topics on twitter. Kamran Akmal is the second person after Veena Malik to hit Twitter worldwide trend from Pakistan. Veena Malik became trendy after her long stay in India for the Bigg Boss show and her talk show which got on-aired on Express News. Here is the screenshot, I took to make the history of Pakistan that whoever is disliked the most, gets on the trendy topics on twitter from Pakistan

“Blessed be the sacred land. Happy be the bounteous realm, symbol of high resolve. Land of Pakistan! Blessed be thou, citadel of faith. The order of this sacred land is the might of the brotherhood of the people. May the nation, the country, and the state shine in glory everlasting! Blessed be the goal of our ambition. This flag of the crescent and star leads the way to progress and perfection. Interpreter of our past, glory of our present, inspiration of our future! Symbol of God, owner of glory’s protection.”

Have you ever read these words before? Yes you have many times, rather every day during your school life. “Pak Sir Zameen Shaad Baad”, yes our own national anthem. I’m sure now you are getting goose bumps. Today I was having a fever of patriotism and thought to write something about my mother land, but when I read the translation of our national anthem, I realized we have been praying Allah since our childhood for His blessings on our sacred land. Though many of us, even at this age in late 20′s we don’t know the actual meaning of our national anthem. I had to share the translation of Pakistan’s national anthem so that everyone can just read and see how beautiful the words are of it.

To be honest, I find no other words to show my love for this country except reading the national anthem twice. Here is the National Anthem and I would love all of you to sing it once and see the reaction of it which goes in your soul and mind now.

Incase, you don’t know:

National Anthem of Pakistan was written by Hafeez Jullundhri and the music was composed by Akbar Mohammed in 1950. It was officially adopted by the Government of Pakistan in 1954.

In 1949 Musical composition was given by Ahmad G. Chagla (running time, 1 minute 20 seconds). In 1952 verses were written by Hafeez Jalandhri which were selected from 723 entries. In 1954 it was publicly released on Radio Pakistan on 13 August. Singers of the anthem were: Ahmad Rushdi, Shamim Bano, Kokab Jehan, Rasheeda Begum, Najam Ara, Naseema Shaheen, Zwar Hussain, Akhtar Abbas, Ghulam Dastgir, Anwar Zaheer and Akhtar Wassi. Ali Rathore, Saif Ali Khan.

Pakistan these days is going through multiple phases, the title of an Indian movie “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum” exactly describes the life of People in Pakistan. No matter what happens, I have seen this nation rising above through all means. Along with all the depression this young nation makes a way out and hit the jackpots. Worldcup Cricket 2011 is a joy Pakistan is rejoicing these days.

Three matches and three wins with Shahid Khan Afridi leading the team these MEN IN GREEN are rocking the nation. The second match of Pakistan in worldcup was the most amazing one, when after such a long time, I saw quite streets in Lahore. People gathered around a corner watching the match on a 14″ TV screen on a cigarette stall and roaring on the victory against Sri Lanka.

Today again, when Pakistan batted first made a terrible start by scoring only 184 runs against Canada. Everyone, including me, thought it is going to be another upset like the match of England vs Ireland where Ireland chased the 327 runs target and made an upset in the tournament. But these Green Men turned the tables around and Shahid Khan Afridi the star of Pakistani cricket again took 5 wickets leading to a victory. I salute them!

On 22nd January 2011, Veena Malik appeared on Express News TV Channel’s talk show Front Line with Kamran Shahid after returning back to Pakistan from India. Veena Malik took part in the most sensational reality TV show of India ‘Bigg Boss’. Unfortunately Mufti Saab who was on a live video feed could not defend himself against the furious Veena Malik. Veena’s only point was to stop all the other bad things happening in the country, then come to Veena Malik. I agree, there must be a lot of wrong things happening, but that does not mean that you start doing it too, and then say, “stop them first then talk about me”.

What she had done there in India is seen by the whole sub-continent if not the whole world. Indian are making fun of her too, and she thinks they are praising her. Many of you who had seen Bigg Boss would have heard the talks of Rishant and Ashmit Patel too about Veena. They too were saying that whoever’s girlfriend she was, was a brave man. At one point in the show Veena said something which really closed all the doors of discussion.

Veena said: “I’m an entertainer, and looking good is my right”.

I guess, she cleared in her first statement that she is an entertainer. I wish I could use the desi word for ‘entertainer’, but unfortunately I can’t. So now, it does not matter if she do her entertainment business locally or internationally. Mufti Saab, who couldn’t defend himself was asking her that can she look at all those scenes with her brother or son. I would like to reply here to Mufti Saab, that Sir, there are certain people in every society, where a father, brother, mother all belong to one business. I hope you all can understand what I meant by that. So these things don’t matter to such kind of people.

All I know is we should think and say, something bad as bad. There is no definition of ‘BAD’, bad is just bad. Hum logo mein Ahsaas khatam hota jaa raha hai.

*UPDATE*

We call it the Man’s World but have you ever thought what this man has to go through during all his life? I only see one shout around the corner about Women Rights, but I never heard any voice for Man’s Rights. Why is it so? “A woman is the most powerful creature on this planet” is what I would like to state here.

I once read a quote someone which is something like, nothing is more powerful than woman’s tears. I guess its absolutely right. If a girl has to get something, she just shed some tears and there you go, the work is done. She cries when she is a daughter, she cries when she is a wife and she cries when she is a mom. Even she cries as a prostitute to get her work done.

I have seen many people behind the bars just because of being a victim to this feminist pity breed of human. As mentioned by one of my friend Amna Usmani in the comments of my last article “What are Women Rights? Who should fight for it?“, women has the ability to get her things done by her looks and beauty. This is exactly what makes the men victim.

I have always seen in movies that the girl tears off her clothes herself, and blames a guy for raping her. What is that? Now where is that innocent woman we are talking about who is fighting for her rights? I don’t exactly remember the incident, but in our Islamic history there was some one who was blamed by a women and was stoned to death.

Girls enjoy boys following them. They present themself in a way that boys get attracted. You can’t clap with one hand. Fault is on both sides. But who’s fault is more? Why are ‘female’ prostitutes have 1:100 ratio with ‘man’ playboys?

Now coming to the other side of the story, a man works whole day long out there to earn a living so that his wife and children get the best of everything. There are only may be %5 of men out there in our society who would want their wives to work. They don’t want their women to go out in public and work, and why should they work when a man is ready to comfort her life. 90% of the man in our society work, and his lady is a housewife. So do these 90% men complaint about all the hardship of life they face at their work?

Men die at war in army. Men risk their life. Men are like donkey’s work all day long for their master ladies. Men has the responsibility to feed their family. That is why its called the Man’s World because man has to do everything, and the woman has to just sit at their home and manage the home. I do agree with one point here, that managing a home is not a part time job even. Running a home is a full time job too, looking after kids, making food, washing clothes, cleaning home is very tough.

So what I analyzed from the whole story of life is, man and woman are equal. The distribution is a little complex, but they do hold the equal rights. That is why both men and women are unable to identify he boundary line of the 50-50 equal rights. That line of rights is a zig-zag line, in some parts man has the advantage and in some the woman.

On 8th December 2010, Google arranged an event with CIO in Islamabad which was more of an Internet blogger camp and very limited and selected people across Pakistan were invited to this event. Many of us might have felt that they were left out of it, but I guess it was more of a blogger meet up. I was fortunate to be over there and meet the high-level delegate of Google team accompanied by Badar Khushnood (Google Consultant for Pakistan) and Omar Shakeel (Developer at Google from Pakistan).

I had the lovely chance to meet some people for the first time, who I have always chatted with online or tweeted. Naveen Naqvi, Sana Saleem, Imtiaz, Sidra Jalil, Hammad Dar, Muhammad Alam, Ahsan Mukhtar (dj_bubble) were among them.

All the photos of the event can be seen at my facebook fan page, click here. Some of the interesting photos are below.

Since around last decade I have seen the women fighting for their rights and now that struggle of gaining the rights have moved into the world of technology with campaigns launched on a world wide scale over Internet. Thanks to twitter and facebook for such social networks where one can spread a word. But my real question to all the young ladies out there are, what are they actually fighting for?

The world is divided into continents, and every continent rather I would say every piece of land on earth has a different society, culture and set of rules to follow. One thinks a woman wearing a short skirt and a bikini is not a big deal. On the other side of the world it’s considered a sin, and in France a Muslim girl cannot even wear a scarf but a Christian nun can do so.

The first thing we need to understand is the difference of society and culture, then debate on the rights. Why on Earth we among Muslim world are fighting for the rights for women when the status of women is highly defined in our religion and which is not debatable. Did anyone ever try to find out who started this FIGHT for women right? In the part of the world where I live, my heaven lies under my mother’s feet. My life is with my sister, my stability is with my wife and my future is with my daughter.

In a culture where ‘Munni Badnaam Hoi‘ and ‘Sheila Ki Jawani‘ from bollywood is prevailing and a TV anchors like Mathira (Vibe TV) doing the ‘Guchi Guchi Gu‘ in the most seductive way. TV drama serials where our wives and daughters are taught to play politics in their in-laws and where older women relationship with younger boys and vise-versa are becoming the only story of your drama serials, a purely house walled women is fighting for her rights? What rights are you talking about? Women are respectable in every relation but not they way we are heading towards.

The western cultured women had insecurities of their lives, that is why they started the fight for women rights. The women is not respected the way we eastern do. Divorce ratio is above 60% there, not here. Marriage culture is dying there, not here.

In my next article, I will right more about the definition of women rights and how Internet is helping in this cause.
